This page has photos by sport of the Class Managers for Hockey, Hiking, Swimming, Basketball, Track, and Tennis in 1924-1925. While the managers are all shown, none are identified in the photos.; 'Hiking: Hiking is coming to be a more popular sport every year; and why not? What could be more invigorating that a five or ten mile hike before breakfast on a Saturday morning, or a brisk walk on an October afternoon? We readily grant that this is one of the most enjoyable sports of women's athletics practiced on the Hill.' p. 253; 'Swimming for the girls in the college is a sport in which every girl is interested, since it is required sometime in her college career. Under Miss Lowrie's capable instruction the class is one of he most delightful half hours spent during the week. This year one inter-class meet was held and taken by the sophomores. There is much good-natured rivalry during the meet as to which class has he best swimmers. There were also two weeks of trials in which were included tests for endurance. During one hour and a half a distance of one hundred and seventy-two lengths of the pool was reached. Wooster has some very good simmers and the meet next year promises to be a very close one.' p.253; 'Track: Wooster girls enjoy both indoor and outdoor track. There has been much interest in both the past few years, but this last season proved to be on of the best. Besides the regular apparatus work in the gym, several new features, such as running and basketball throwing were added to the list of activities. Although there are no regular track teams, there is plenty of rivalry in outdoor track between individuals of different classes, and the desire for chevrons keeps up the pep and interest of indoor track.' p. 253 |
