Description	The Corrugahorn was invented by Frank Crawford, professor of physics at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1973. It is based on a toy known as the Bloogle (see #137), a twirled harmonic pipe. It is made of a length of corrugated brass tubing, curved to look like a bugle. It is not a "lip-reed" instrument with a cup-shaped mouthpiece, however. The mouthpiece is a simple rim of black plastic. One need only blow into the pipe, and the turbulence created by the corrugated surface produces the familiar harmonic series. This particular model is called the Slide Corrugahorn. Between the curved corrugated section and the narrow flared bell of golden-colored plastic is a smooth-sided cylinder with another cylinder sliding inside it. Moving the slide out produces a glissando effect and other fundamentals and overtones. It produces the note A when retracted and drops to G when extended to its maximum. Although it may be considered a toy, musical tunes can be played on it. Crawford wrote an instruction booklet whimsically called The Corrugahorn Clarion, 1974. He also analyzed the physics of the harmonic pipe in several published papers.
