About this collection

The Oberlin College Student Publications Collection held in the Archives encompasses 197 titles, ranging from 1858 to the present. Of the total, five titles date from the 19th century. While some publications enjoyed a very long run, many of them were short-lived. In the 2000s and 2010s, 50 different titles were published. The 20th century is represented in 142 titles.

Here you will find a sample cover and detailed description for each of these titles. We invite you to visit the Archives to explore them in print form. Some current student publications offer back or current issues online from their websites or issuu sites. These are noted in the descriptions.

This electronic access project involved the first content analysis of the titles in the Oberlin College Student Publications Collection at the Oberlin College Archives. In 2018, Student Kira Zimmerman, OC 2019, analyzed the publications and wrote the descriptions, and assigned tags and genre terms of her own to assist others in accessing the publications. Others involved in this stage of the project were Becky Sparagowski, Archives and Special Collections Intern; and Anne Cuyler Salsich, Associate Archivist. Thanks also to Lindsey Felice (banner design), and Megan Mitchell, Digital Initiatives Librarian.
